About Raja Azhar

Raja Azhar, hailed from Ipoh, Perak, is a full-time professional artist, graduated with a degree in fine arts from the prestigious Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia.

From 1980 to 1981, he was the recipient of the St Kilda Art Prize Award, Lord Mayor of Melbourne and The Victorian artists society artist of the year award. After many successful exhibitions held locally and abroad, Raja Azhar ventured into the intricate media of glass making in 1999. In order to improve in this area, he became a member of the renowned Ausglass Association of Australia which organized workshops and conferences for glass enthusiasts and which are hosted by experts in the multi-faceted techniques of glass making.

Raja Azhar has been an attendee at several elite workshops held across Australia and this has enriched and inspired his selected technique in kiln-formed glass. His unique glass creations have been commissioned by many esteemed corporate companies, they compliment the interior of various residences and they have been presented to several prominent world leaders.

For Raja Azhar, the artistic material is an indirect medium that teaches artists about discipline, patience and thoroughness. His works are tremendously popular particularly his innovative ‘impressionism with movement’ series.
